CARIA. Antioch ad Maeandrum. Circa 90/89-65/60 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.31 g, 12 h), Karneades, son of Karnas, magistrate. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ANTIOXEΩN KAPNЄAΔHΣ KAPNA Eagle, with closed wings, standing left; before, cult statue of Artemis Ephesia with supports; all within maeander pattern border. Thonemann (forthcoming) Group B, 14 (O15/R-). Of the highest rarity, the second known tetradrachm of this magistrate. Good very fine.
